Presentation of the Association

VKII in conference

The Cameroonian Association of Engineers and Computer Scientists (VKII – its German designation) is a non-profit association duly registered in Germany. Founded in 2000 in the dynamic city of Frankfurt am Main, this initiative arose from the desire of a growing number of Cameroonian students whose academic aspirations focused on engineering and computer science.

The primary objective of VKII was to improve the living and study conditions of these foreign students in German universities. Since its inception, the educational landscape has undergone a significant transformation, marked by an exponential increase in the number of Cameroonian and African graduates. This development has also fostered the emergence of a valuable professional networking dynamic within the association.

VKII is proud to represent the largest number of African students and experts, not only in Germany, but across the entire European continent. Its core missions are as follows:

– Foster the aspiration for success in a highly competitive society;

– Improve living conditions and facilitate the (re)integration of Cameroonians and Africans, both in their countries of origin and in their host countries;

– Identify technical and IT challenges while providing innovative solutions through the expertise of its members, for the benefit of the Cameroonian and African community, in Cameroon and beyond its borders;

– Implement technology transfer projects in Cameroon and other African countries, with initiatives already established in Ghana, Uganda, and Ethiopia.

To ensure effective knowledge transfer, VKII experts collaborate with various institutions, universities, and training schools, organizing symposiums and workshops for this purpose.

VKII also promotes and supports projects led by Cameroonian and African experts in the fields of computer science and engineering, aiming to promote sustainable development in Sub-Saharan Africa in general and Cameroon in particular.

As an umbrella association, VKII e.V. currently comprises five regional associations active in seven German Länder, as well as two international circles (in France and Cameroon). It is resolutely committed to promoting education, vocational training, and development policies, while fostering economic and knowledge exchange between Europe and Africa.

Our initiatives also play a crucial role in facilitating the energy transition, digital transformation, and the integration of digitalization into daily life. Furthermore, VKII e.V. also aspires to be a platform for exchanging innovative ideas, experiences, and expertise, bringing together members from diverse backgrounds around an inspiring motto: “Together, great things come to life; let’s build them together!”
